Volunteer counselors supervise campers' days, guiding them through activities, meals, quiet hours, and the signature programs that help siblings reconnect.
Volunteering is described by those who serve as emotionally exhausting but deeply rewarding: filled with laughter, tears, song, and the joy of watching brothers and sisters rediscover each other.

A Note From a Volunteer
My experiences at CTB have helped me put context on my own life and give meaning to much of the work I do all year long. These life changing moments at camp help sustain me while working with the Child Welfare system all year long. Being a part of CTB is always rewarding, emotionally exhausting, filled with laughter and tears, joy and sorrow, song, and a flurry of activity. Camp To Belong Volunteer
Make a difference in the lives of resilient children. Your time and care help siblings grow up together, even when the world has placed them apart.
Volunteering with a sibling reunification camp is a chance to help brothers and sisters separated through foster, adoptive, or kinship care share a week of real childhood together. Counselors and support staff guide campers through daily routines that feel ordinary on the surface and profoundly meaningful underneath: shared meals, group games, quiet rest periods, and the signature traditions designed to help siblings reconnect after long stretches apart. Every meal bell and every quiet goodnight becomes a small memory worth making, because time together is precious and often rare for these families, and a safe, welcoming environment helps children relax into simply being kids alongside the people they know best.
The experience of serving at camp is described by returning volunteers as emotionally intense, tender, and unexpectedly joyful. Days can be filled with laughter, song, and the small milestones that happen when siblings who have been apart rediscover each other's rhythms and personalities. Tears come easily too, as children open up about feelings that can be hard to express anywhere else. Being a steady, supportive presence during these moments is its own form of service, offering reassurance, respect, and encouragement that helps campers feel seen and emotionally safe. It is hard, honest work that asks a lot of the heart and gives a great deal back.
Beyond the direct role of counselor, there are many other ways to get involved with the organization throughout the year. Some supporters help with planning, outreach, fundraising events, or administrative tasks that keep the summer program running smoothly and sustainably. Others assist with seasonal gatherings, community awareness efforts, or behind-the-scenes preparation that arrives long before campers ever set foot on site. Each contribution, whether large or small, strengthens the network of care surrounding the children and helps ensure that the camp experience remains consistent, well-organized, and rooted in the mission of keeping brothers and sisters emotionally connected through meaningful shared moments.
Becoming part of the volunteer community means joining a team dedicated to creating positive childhood memories and opportunities that every child deserves but not every child is easily granted. The organization strives to nurture social and emotional maturation in a setting that feels more like summer and less like a program, with meals, play, and goodnight rituals woven through each day. Volunteers often describe the experience as one of the most rewarding ways they have ever chosen to spend their time, because it is a direct, human expression of empathy, encouragement, and care for brothers and sisters learning to cherish being together again.
